Help & Support

Skin care during chemotherapy and radiotherapy is essential as your skin can become more sensitive than usual. You might notice dryness, redness, itching, or a feeling of tightness—particularly in areas being treated with radiotherapy. This is completely normal, but it does mean your skin needs as much moisturisation as possible.

Prior to starting your treatment (as well as throughout treatment), it is important to nourish your skin.

Avoid heavily perfumed products and hot water as this can strip the skin of its natural oils and increase irritation.

Use a mild, hypoallergenic, soap-free cleanser and lukewarm water.Gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel (don’t rub).

Apply moisturisers regularly – ideally after washing, when your skin is still slightly damp to help lock in moisture.

Use a quality lip balm regularly to help minimise dry lips and chapping.

Avoid direct sun during peak hours where possible.Wear sun protection (SPF 30+ or higher) on exposed skin as treatment can make your skin more sensitive to UV exposure.

Wear loose, soft clothing which can help reduce friction and prevent further irritation.
